Packaging and Shipping Specialist

Due to rapid growth and expansion, Acreage Pharms Ltd. is currently recruiting a full-time Packaging and Shipping Specialist. This is an opportunity to become a part of the new, exciting, and rapidly growing Canadian cannabis industry!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Packaging & Shipping Specialists are required to perform both packaging and shipping functions. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Reading and working in accordance with all sections of department’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Cleaning all work areas prior to and after each packaging event.
  • Wearing varying levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) depending on activity performed.
  • Using facility seed to sale software to be able to check on-hand inventory, enter destruction, adjust weights and print product labels as required for packaging and shipping activities.
  • Operating both manual and semi-automatic packaging equipment in the correct manner and in accordance with all self-study materials/manuals for such equipment.
  • Labeling, filling, sealing, casing and inventorying all product containers for shipment to either the medical or recreational markets.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential client records for each shipment.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills and Experience

  • Basic computer use knowledge. MS Word, Excel, Outlook (Basic - Intermediate).
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure effective flow of information between department team members.
  • Ability to work independently at rotating workstations daily.
  • Participation in daily department team responsibilities.
  • Reliable work attendance: Each department team member relies on other members of the team to complete daily tasks.
  • Able to walk, sit, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift/carry up to 25lbs. Good vision and hearing.
  • Ability to perform repetitive task while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with cannabis and around Isopropyl alcohol and bleach.

Other Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Previous packaging/shipping experience a plus.

Head Grower

Due to rapid growth and expansion, Acreage Pharms Ltd. is currently recruiting a full-time Head Grower.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage, monitor and train staff on all cultivation activities including but not limited to: irrigation, fertigation, feeding/nutrient schedules, cloning, transplanting, defoliation, harvesting, preventative spraying and pest control, waste disposal, etc.
  • Regularly monitor grow rooms and assess plant health. Take appropriate measures to mitigate loss and/or damage to plants.
  • Ability to supervise and delegate to complete various daily tasks for more than 30 staff.
  • Coordinate with Production Manager to ensure that major work events are completed on time to achieve production targets within expected deadlines.
  • Ensure staff training, development and performance management planning for all direct and indirect reports, including ongoing proficiency training and smooth on-boarding of new employees.
  • Order equipment and supplies as needed to support grow operations.
  • Manage data collection for accuracy and ensure all tracking is complaint with government regulations and company requirements.
  • Identify and manage cost improvements and lead the development and execution of cost improvement and productivity ideas within the cultivation area.
  • Maintain exceptional attention to detail to achieve consistent high-quality yields while ensuring optimum efficiency and cost control.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance, the Responsible Person and Alternate Responsible Person to ensure strict compliance with Facility’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Health Canada Regulations, and OH&S Regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with other department managers, supervisors and employees to ensure timely resolution of problems affecting the cultivation department.
  • Complete safety inspections in the cultivation area as well as being involved in incident investigation and inspection programs.

Education

An undergraduate degree in plant biology or diploma in horticulture. Education requirement may be waived for candidates with at least 2 years’ experience as a Head or Lead Grower in a licensed cannabis indoor operation.

Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of large scale commercial cannabis cultivation, including automated systems, nutrient requirements, irrigation, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, air flow, pH management, waste disposal, etc.
  • Utilize Seed to Sale software (e.g. Ample Organics) to track plants from clone through harvest.
  • Experience in hydroponic and soil-based horticulture.
  • Practical experience/knowledge of an integrated pest management program.
  • Strong inventory and production management skills.
  • Innovative thinking and problem solving.
  • Ability to meticulously follow SOPs and document all activities.
  • Ability to successfully clear criminal record check and Cannabis Act security background check.
  • Knowledge of the Cannabis plant and genetics.
  • Knowledge of plant diseases, insects, and fungi, as well as plant treatment options.
  • Previous management experience in developing, leading, motivating and mentoring staff.
  • Working knowledge of the Cannabis Regulations.
  • Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Good work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labor tasks required in a grow facility.
  • Basic computer skills: competency in Microsoft Office.
  • WHMIS Training an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Work environment can be warm and humid, similar to a greenhouse environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing & walking for long periods of time. Frequent bending, kneeling and reaching.
  • Ability to perform a series of repetitive operations requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Ability to work with and around chemicals like bleach, Isopropyl Alcohol, pH Up, and pH Down.
  • Available to work Days, Weekends (as needed), Shift, On Call. Might be required to work overtime as needed.

Journeyman Electrician

Acreage Pharms Ltd. is currently recruiting a full-time Journeyman Electrician.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Installing new electrical equipment and maintaining on a preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Standard maintenance: changing filters, refrigeration plant checks, CO2 sensor calibrations, all lighting, HVAC, irrigation systems, etc.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Ensuring the use of correct procedures when dealing with hazardous materials.
  • Maintaining a high level of safety awareness by continually adhering to safety standards and ensuring participation in safety meetings.
  • Assist with other projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Fully certified Journeyman Electrician with a minimum of 3 years' experience. Red Seal preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a class 5 driver's license.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Industrial Controls and Instrumentation experience would be an asset.
  • Other industry related certification and/or experience would be an asset (eg. First Aid, Fall Arrest, WHMIS, Lift Platform).

Education:

  • High School or Trade School Diploma.
  • Journeyman Electrician (Alberta) or Red Seal Certification

Extraction Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all equipment utilized by the APL’s extraction program in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner.
  • Carry out extraction and processing activities in strict compliance with company SOPs and government regulations.
  • Maintain a sanitary work environment through cleaning and sanitation of the equipment, glassware, and extraction lab.
  • Assist in the documentation of research activities, processing activities, and cannabis inventories.
  • Support and assist ongoing research and development activities.
  • Handle potentially harmful chemicals in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform to a high level and maintain a high level or personal integrity in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly regulated environment.
  • Other activities as provided by the Head of Extraction or Extraction lead.

Requirements:

  • Able to work flexible hours include weekends,10-hour+ shifts, and/or overtime as required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Ability to work with cannabis, alcohols, and fine dusts.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs on regular basis.
  • Standing & walking for long periods of time.
  • In a standing position, able to reach/manipulate dials and controls positioned at 5'5"
  • Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling and reaching.
  • Ability to perform repetitive task while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years work experience in a research, pharmaceutical, or food production facility or; a diploma or bachelor’s degree in chemistry/biochemistry or related sciences.
  • Experience working with GLP, GPP or GMP will be considered an asset.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
